
Winter Weather Alerts for the American Redoubt
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Winter weather advisories over most of the American Redoubt states.
A ROBUST WINTER STORM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY. FORECAST CONFIDENCE IS HIGH THAT REGION WILL SEE ENOUGH SNOW TO IMPACT TRAVEL ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN VALLEYS AS WELL SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE THIS EVENING AND BECOME HEAVY DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS. A TRANSITION FROM SNOW TO RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE EARLY TUESDAY MORNING
Heavy snow accumulations will make travel hazardous.
Freezing rain and high winds will hit many areas through the entire Redoubt region.
The alerts are in place for today (12.19.16) through Tuesday (12.20.16) night, with possibilities of them being extended.
Please travel only if necessary and carry your preparedness items in your vehicle with you. Include items such as food, water, first aid kit, flashlights and batteries, a battery powered radio, warm clothing including hats, gloves, and boots, and blankets. Be sure to remember those in your family with special needs such as infants (diapers, formula, etc.) and the elderly or disabled. Include extra money and medication that your family may need.
